I have lived in Asia, and although I wasn’t expecting this to be fully authentic, how can one really screw up rice and noodles!? The noodles had a strange texture to them, as if precooked and left out, the food was extremely bland, I only are the pork, but I must say it was very clean, and the bathrooms were immaculate, spoke to a lady possibly manager? No apology or offer to try another dish or even a discount, save your money, go elsewhere, there are plenty of gems in Sidney to try!

Food was great. I love the new renovations to this place. Service is also amazing and so welcoming, I love how the atmosphere is so family like, as if I am walking into a home.

Our family came h...

Our family came here on Good Friday April 3rd 4pm we've been waited on by this Harley front desk as soon as we walk in she was giving snobby smerks not looking happy we were their place completely empty saying she don't know if she can find us a seat and she split our family in two tables and said those tables were reserved at 5 and we had.a hour to eat pretty much making us rush I was completely disgusted about the service :-/ >:| Can get better service if we went to saanichton

Lacking Flavor

We just ate our pick up meal-dinner for one b) the wonton soup was very bland, the Szechuan fried rice I expected to be hotter than the very mild rice I received and the kung po chicken was 95% vegetables with very little chicken.The only good thing was the sweet and sour chicken. As for the other 4 dishes the rest of the family had-they were also lacking flavor and had very little meat. It was a disappointment after reading the other reviews. There's a chance take home is not as good as eat in but shouldn't the meals be of consistent quality? Generally, this Chinese food experience was lacking.

Good Fortune

This is the best Chinese food I have had in a long time. The only compliant is the sweet and sour boneless pork is not sweet enough. Other than that its great. It's very busy so the best way to order is to phone in first. The staff are very professional and never been rude.

LOVE! with so many options for Chinese in Victoria, you can't go wrong with Sampan Express. If you are looking for table side service, linen, candle light, may be a bottle of wine.....etc.. this would NOT be the place for you . They aren't the best but hey.... for around 10 bucks a head you get a decent meal , I had a 3 items combo from their hot table for just $9.25 + tax. my girlfriend Linda had a wonton soup......best wonton.....said Linda.
